Ford is to planning to launch a hot 138bhp version of the 1.0-litre Ford Fiesta EcoBoost.
Vice president in charge of global product development Raj Nair told Autocar at the Geneva motor show that no decision has been made on what the car will be called, but an ST badge is unlikely to feature.
No date has yet been set for the car's launch, but the company is understood to have concluded primary engine development and testing. The current 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine produces 99bhp in the Fiesta. By comparison, the current Fiesta ST gets 180bhp from its 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.
Ford is also revising its Focus ST. As well as revised styling, the refresh will also result in a new diesel version of the ST to sit alongside its petrol counterpart.
The ST's 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine gets an unspecified increase in power as part of the upgrade, taking it beyond the 247bhp of today's car, as well as a seven per cent increase in fuel efficiency.
The new diesel ST gets an output of 182bhp, accelerates from 0-62mph in eight seconds and emits just 114g/km of CO2.

I bet the diesel ST outputs more NOx than the petrol ST.
Next budget should see VED based on NOx, considering UK is being taken to court by the EU.

I think Ford should bring in a warm badge for the lower power Fiesta and Diesel Focus rather than watering down the ST badge. This is what the S badge should be used for like the FR at Seat.
The old Zetec S was a warm(ish well i'm lying wasn't warm at all) but for all intent and purposes a body kitted boy (girl) racers dream.
