Renault has released a new preview image of its upcoming R.S. 01 racer, which will compete in the World Series by Renault championship from next year.
To be seen in the metal for the first time at the Moscow motor show in August, Renault says the new car has "a uniquely stunning design - the first indication of its exceptional performance". The French firm is currently testing the car ahead of its racing debut next year.
While exact powertrain details have yet to be released, Renault has said the Renaultsport Trophy car will be powered by a Nismo engine developing over 493bhp. It'll be connected to a seven-speed sequential gearbox created by motorsport specialist Sadev, while Michelin will develop a bespoke tyre for the car. All in, Renault is targetting a weight over around 1100kg.
Developed solely for use in motorsport, Renault says the Trophy has been designed "with pure performance in mind".
The World Series by Renault championship takes place over nine rounds at tracks including Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring. It runs from April until October, with the season finale taking place at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
