The first verdict on the all-new Honda Civic Type R has just arrived, and as the dust settles it's time to look back at our top videos featuring this hot hatchback champion.

1 - Civic Type R Mugen concept driven

Described as a one-off concept car aimed at 'unleashing the Civic's true potential', the Mugen-fettled hatchback gets 237bhp, tuned suspension and no rear seats. Matt Prior straps in for a drive.

2 - Honda Civic Type R Mugen versus Audi R8 V10

Our predictions were correct, and Mugen did indeed build its go-faster version of the Civic Type R. Question was - could it stand up against a supercar giant in the form of Audi's R8 V10? Steve Sutcliffe referees.

3 - Honda Civic BTCC racer versus McLaren 12C and Honda superbike

Ok, so it's not technically a Type R, but Honda's Civic-based BTCC racer still gets 360bhp from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. To find out where it stands, we pitted the BTCC racer against McLaren's 616bhp 12C, and the 200bhp Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade.

4 - Honda Civic Type R concept

The Geneva motor show in 2014 gave us our closest look at the production Type R. Though officially described as a concept, the lowered, tuned and aerodynamically enhanced Civic concept was a star of the show.
