Spy photographers have snapped pictures of Kia’s third generation Kia Picanto city car undergoing development testing in Lapland, revealing its undisguised interior, rear lights and engine for the first time.

Although it’s been heavily disguised, the car’s overall shape appears similar to the current model, with familiar features like a short bonnet and abrupt tail. However, the passenger window lines and taillights are clearly different, and the interior also looks to have been changed significantly from the current car.
Gone are the second generation Picanto’s vertical vents, replaced by horizontal central ones that sit on a much more symmetrical dash. The heating controls are now housed in a floating section below the dash top, and the steering wheel features a four-spoke design.
The current Picanto comes in both three and four-door layouts, but all pictures of the 2017 model so far have been of five-door cars. Whether the next-gen Picanto retains its three-door option is yet to be revealed; current market trends suggest it may be dropped.
