Volvo has discontinued its S60 Cross Country model in the UK, after registering just 34 examples across the model’s lifespan.
With the Volvo S60 Cross Country is still sold in markets across Asia, America and Europe, a Volvo spokesperson stated that the model was never aimed squarely at the UK market, and that Volvo had sold all of the S60 Cross Country models that it "had access to" for the UK.
The S60 and V60 Cross Country models went on sale in the UK in April 2015.
The V60 Cross Country will continue to be sold in the UK and elsewhere; 478 examples of the estate have been sold in the UK since its launch.
A replacement model for the S60 Cross Country is yet to be confirmed. Given the low numbers sold, it is unclear whether a successor to the model will come to the UK when Volvo replaces the 60 range.
The low sales volume of the S60 Cross Country saloon reflects the wider industry trend of the UK being a more receptive market for estate cars. The V60 Cross Country estate has multiple rivals across the segment, such as the Skoda Octavia Scout and Audi’s Allroad models, however there are none for the S60 Cross Country saloon.
