The brand's second model is previewed in 03 concept; 01 SUV has been revealed in production form at the Shanghai motor show

The Lynk&Co 03, a saloon concept previewing the Geely brand's second production model, has been shown at the brand's official launch in the Chinese market.

At an event, attended by the first 800 users of the app-based car-sharing service, the brand revealed the follow-up to its 01 SUV model

The look of the concept, despite being penned as a 'design prototype', closely matches that of the 01 which has also been revealed in production-ready form at the Shanghai motor show

Senior vice president Alain Visser announced at the event further details of the brand's subscription model, as well as sales and a home delivery service; in addition to the car-sharing service, Lynk&Co customers will be able to own their own car and will benefit from a lifetime warranty and free connectivity.

Lynk&Co has previously revealed the level of technology to be expected from its models; it will “address the needs and preferences of the new global and connected generation”, and will have internet and cloud access.

The 01 is expected to have a range of engines derived from sister brand Volvo's existing engine lineup, in addition to a subsequent plug-in hybrid version which will share electric power with the upcoming Volvo XC40. The 03 should share engines with the 03, given the two models' similar sizes.

I believe we may be heading

I believe we may be heading to a new automotive milestone soon: that of when someone pulls back the sheet at a new car unveiling, mutters "hmmm...actually..." and then pulls the sheet back over.

I imagine that a passing off

I imagine that a passing off action from Lincoln, however justifiable, would fail. Shameful. I hope that the Volvo people are suitably embarrassed, bearing in mind their Ford connection of old.

...the current platform that the 01/03/S&XC40 are derived from, is an updated, previous generation, European version of the Ford Focus! Which begs the question: With premium brands (BMW, AUDI, Mercedes, Lexus, etc.) building luxury cars from their compact platforms (with Land Rover and Volvo using an updated but previous generation [in others words:old] Ford platform), why can't Ford get it to work for their Lincoln brand?
