Smartphone app-based Porsche Passport subscription service allows drivers access to a 22-model range

Porsche has launched a subscription service for its cars in the US that allows drivers access to up to 22 different models.

The smartphone app-based scheme, called Porsche Passport, is initially being launched in Atlanta, Georgia.

Monthly subscription costs $2000 (£1516) for the entry-level Launch package, which provides access to eight models, including the 718 Boxster718 Cayman, Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Macan S.

By comparison, 10,000 mile per year PCP on a Porsche 718 Boxster is £481, with a deposit of £10,800 and final purchase payment of £22,901.

The $3000 (£2274) Accelerate package increases the availability to 22 models, including the Porsche 911 Carrera S, Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Macan GTS and Porsche Panamera 4S.

Included in the price are road tax and registration, insurance and maintenance. A $500 (£379) joining fee is also charged.

The cars can be delivered or picked up by the subscriber, with same-day pick-ups or future arrangements available through the app.

There’s no mileage limit, although membership does depend on background and credit checks. The scheme begins in November.

Volvo has also launched a subscription service for its upcoming XC40 small SUV.

I'd like to see what a Boxster is per month with no deposit, which would be a more comparable figure. It's clear the direction the industry is going with Autotrader and quite a few sites now offering a monthly figure as well as the price in the advert.

We can debate whether it's a good or a bad thing all day long but there is a change coming in the market with used cars now switching to PCP.

Birthday treat?

Looks like it's a month but you’ll have to be quick and from Greogia as one report has it a limit to 50 offer.

There’s no minium number of months so I suppose £2,000 for a month in a Cayman isn’t quite as bad as I first thought, although there is a £800 excess.

UK??? it'll probably end up £2,500 for a one month blast, in a traffic jam!!

Sorry for above rogue post Nr2
