Leasing can be an affordable, practical route into having your own private car, but it's not always easy to tell the good deals from the duds.
The experts at our sister magazine What Car? work hard to find you the best pay-monthly schemes, taking into account mileage allowance, montly outlay, contract length and initial deposit. We'll be bringing you the best deals they find from a different segment each week.
Looking to buy, not lease your next car? Autocar's new used car deals section can help you find a great price on a nearly-new model
This week, family hatchbacks:
1. Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost 125 Zetec Nav
£1176 deposit, £196 per month, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
There is a strait-laced appeal to the Focus now that almost belies its dynamic competence. The Ford is trustworthy, good value and spacious, even if it can’t quite match the premium feel of the other three here.
2. Kia Ceed 1.0T GDi ISG 2
£1138 deposit, £190 per month, 48 months, 8000 miles per year
Still nothing matches Kia’s seven-year warranty, but if that’s not your bag, consider the Ceed’s styling, build quality and good road behaviour. This latest incarnation has new-found levels of ride and handling sophistication, and plenty of space inside for the family.

Are people actually spending this on a lease for a car? £500/mo for a 2.0l BMW!? £650/mo for a 4-pot Merc?! These seem like crazy numbers for distinctly average cars!
If you really cannot wait, there are plenty available from specialist dealers with delivery mileage, if you are prepared to pay a £2K premium.
They are ridiculously priced anyway. Better to wait for 3 years until they have depreciated to a sensible price.
The problem with the GR Yaris (however desirable it may seem), is that if you order one now, you won't see it until 2022!!
The entire 2021 allocation is now sold out, sorry guys.
