The F8 Tributo isn't just the most powerful mid-engined V8 Ferrari has ever put into series production. It's a celebration that marks 40 years of eight cylinder berlinettas.
The successor to the 488 GTB gets an almost all-new aerodynamically enhanced body and a new version of Maronello's famed 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, tuned to produce 710bhp and match the output of the limited-run 488 Pista. But this is meant to be usable everyday, on regular roads, as well as on a racetrack.
Could this be the best of all worlds? And does the Tributo name hint at the F8's possible status as the last of the line for this type of Ferrari and its pure internal combustion engine? We sent James Disdale on a fact finding mission to Italy, for some time behind the wheel on Ferrari's very own Fiorano test track, then out in the hills around Modena to find out.
