Aurus Senat

The Senat is the first vehicle from the new Russian luxury car brand that was established by NAMI, the Russian automobile research authority, to fulfil President Vladimir Putin’s desire for the country to build its own state vehicles. The all-wheel-drive model features a hybrid powertrain and is the commercial version of the extended Senat Limousine, which features ballistic and explosive protection. It’s built for comfort as well as strength: passengers in the back are promised plenty of leg room and a built-in refrigerator with Aurus-branded crystal glasses.

Renault Arkana

Renault’s new ‘coupé crossover’ was designed especially for the Russian market, but is intended as a global model that will eventually be offered in other markets. There are currently no plans to bring it to western Europe. The Arkana is designed to mix saloon and SUV styling and will be built in Renault’s Moscow factory, with sales starting in 2019.

NAMI Project Shatl 2.0

Project Shatl 2.0 is an autonomous car concept from NAMI, the Russian State Scientific Research Centre. A large minibus-style vehicle, it is designed to be used in conjunction with an Uber-style smartphone ride hailing app, which can also be used to control the on-board infotainment system. It is being tested in controlled environments and was trialled at the recent FIFA World Cup.

Lada 4x4 Vision

The Lada 4X4 (formerly known as the Niva) is one of the firm’s most famous machines, virtually unchanged since production began in 1977. This 4X4 Vision is a concept of what a future version of the ultra-rugged off-roader could look like. It features plenty of 'X' motif design features, inspired by the success of the Lada X-Ray SUV.

JAC iEV7S

Pushing electric cars isn’t exactly a priority of the Russian government, so full battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are in short supply at the Moscow show. However, Chinese firm JAC Motors did have its iEV7S on show, alongside its S3 and S5 crossovers.

Khazar Dena

Khazar is a joint venture between Azerbaijani automotive company AzEuroCar and Iran Khodro (IKCO), which currently produces cars at a factory in the Neftchala Industrial District in Azerbaijan. The two firms have now agreed to use the Khazar brand to export this Dena sedan to Russia, Ukraine and other CIS nations.

Haval F7

A sub-brand of Chinese firm Great Wall, Haval will build this seven-seat SUV at its new Russian assembly plant in Tula, about 110 miles south of Moscow. The F7 features a choice of 1.5 and 2.0-litre turbocharged engines

Haval HB-03 Hybrid

Not wanting to let Renault have all the coupé crossover fun to itself, Haval also showcased the latest version of its HB-03 Hybrid concept, first seen at the 2017 Shanghai motor show.

Lifan 820EV

Another Chinese firm steadily pushing into the Russian market, Lifan displayed a range of models new to the country in Moscow. They included this 820EV, which is based on its Murman saloon.

Avtoros Shaman

This is a Russian eight-wheel all-terrain vehicle which its maker claims makes off-roading more comfortable than ever. The Shaman features a McLaren F1-style central driving position and room for up to eight passengers, although you can choose to have it installed with benches that convert into four beds. Another option is a screw propeller, which allows the Shaman to travel at speeds of up to 4.3mph on water. It has an on-land top speed of 44mph, and prices start at around £165,000. If you have to ask about its fuel economy, you can't afford one.
