Stunning imagery is just as important to Autocar as engaging prose, and our snappers are some of the best in the world.
This year, they've photographed everything from the electric Mini Moke to the high-powered, high-octane Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale, but every photographer has their favourite images that they're particularly proud of.
So join us, as our photographers Max Edleston and Jack Harrison share their 2024 highlight reels.

Aston Martin Vanquish
"A winning combination of a stunning car, a beautiful location and an incredible Spanish sunrise. Hard to beat. The fact that it looks like the car can swim is the cherry on top." - ME

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale
"At Fiorano for our first taste of Ferrari’s most extreme ‘XX’ track car yet, the firm’s test drivers were keen to show us how to properly deploy 1016bhp on the legendary circuit, and I had a blast capturing them in the act." - ME

Le Mans in action
"With both darkness and rain beginning to fall over this year’s 24-hour race, I stuck a flash gun on top of my camera to see what I could capture. I was rather pleased with this shot of Hertz Team Jota’s Porsche 963." - ME

Lamborghini Revuelto
"Pouring rain and half-flooded roads weren’t the ideal conditions for a V12 Lambo test, but the Revuelto’s neon orange paint made it visible from a mile off – and look even more alien within the Bedfordshire countryside." - JH

Lancia Fulvia
"I accompanied Richard Webber on a road trip in his almost-immaculate Fulvia 1.3S through the winding roads of the Scottish Borders. I like to think this picture could have come from Autocar’s original 1970s road test." - ME

McLaren W1
"Studio shoots are always a privilege, but shooting McLaren’s latest hypercar was seriously special. Calvert Studios has one of Europe’s largest light boxes, and I used it to spill all the soft light in the image over the car’s harsh edges." - JH

McLaren Artura Spider
"I’d wanted to shoot on the Route Napoleon for years, and a launch in Nice finally gave me the chance. Conditions were ideal: a light mist down in the valley gave it a slightly ethereal feel, while the scenery was to die for." - JH

Microlino
"I’m a huge fan of retro cars, and the Microlino’s bubbly lines made it one of my favourite subjects to photograph. How better to show its diminutive size than to nose it in between a pair of Range Rovers? More city cars, please." - JH
- Slide of
Mini Moke
"In an old English town in front of an old English pub sits a reborn (and now electrifi ed) old English icon. It got me right in the mood for a jolly old game of cricket and a pint of best." - ME
- Slide of
Morgan Plus Four
"Everything lined up just right for this car-to-car shot: the Morgan’s fabulous yellow paint complemented the fields behind and the sun was in just the right position to cast a shadow of its elegant form on the road." - JH
- Slide of
Ariel Nomad 2
"The new Nomad is, thankfully, just as extreme as the original. I wanted to highlight that madness by contrasting it with quite a serene background, and it worked out rather nicely, with the road leading your eye to the car." - JH

Porsche 911 S/T
"Probably the car that Autocar’s road testers have been most excited about this year, shot and tested on some of England’s prettiest and most challenging B-roads – nuff said." - ME

Prodrive
"Prodrive celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, so I shot several stories at its Banbury HQ, an incredible place full of amazing cars and people - not least CEO David Richards (right) and technical director David Lapworth." - ME
- Slide of
Renault 5
"The annual Car of the Year test in Denmark is a great chance to snap the most important new cars in pretty scenery. I knew I had to use this big wind turbine when I spotted it – a nice allusion to clean energy use." - JH

Ferrari Roma vs rivals
"After a long day of grey skies and inconvenient mist, the sun finally poked through the clouds about an hour and a half before nightfall. I’d already taken a lead shot for the feature, but I’d have been a fool not to make use of the stunning colours, so we raced back and set it off again." - JH
- Slide of
Volvo EX30
"A very technically satisfying photo. The cars were where I wanted them, the angle was just right and Bicester Heritage’s track gave me more than enough space to get it perfectly blurred and sharp in all the right places." - ME
