Australian police charge McLaren driver for hooning

Lewis Hamilton has been charged for a driving offence on a public road in Melbourne during this year's Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The McLaren driver was stopped by police after he did a burnout and a fishtail in a Mercedes on Lakeside Drive in Melbourne. He has now been charged with intentionally losing control of a vehicle.

A court hearing has been set for August 24 at Melbourne Magistrates' Court - just three days before first practice for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.

It is not yet clear whether Hamilton will have to be present at the hearing.

Hamilton has expressed regret for the incident.

I think that's already been covered quite well.

Quite. Thank you Lesia.

Me thinks an old thorn in the side has re-invented his nom de plume!

Is it just OK, in your opinion, for Lewis Hamilton, or is it OK for all 24 year olds to do this?

Actually this is about a 24 year old who broke the law. He didn't have to do it, did he? He must have known it was illegal
