Currently reading: GM stalls 9-3 Coupé

Plans for a coupé version of the Saab 9-3 are on hold because because of fears that the market for coupés is declining. The new car would be easy to produce as it is simply a fixed-head version of the current 9-3 convertible (right). Saab has previously proposed the same conversion of the old 9-3 drop-top in the late ’90s but GM allegedly stopped the project for the same reasons. However, a 1.9-litre diesel-engined Convertible is likely to appear to meet ‘strong demand in southern Europe’.
