The grounds of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire are playing host to Salon Privé this weekend, as the exclusive motor show and Concours d'Elégance moves from its traditional London venue to this more rural setting for the first time.
Of the many new cars on display here, the biggest crowd has gathered to see Aston Martin's DB10 in the metal. Based on the DB9 and featuring that car's 510bhp V12 engine, the DB10 was created to star in the upcoming James Bond film Spectre. Aston Martin officials have confirmed that the film's producers, Eon Productions, requested 10 examples of the car to be used in filming, and it's understood that none of the models will be sold once the film is released.
Also on display from Aston Martin is the DBX concept, which made its debut at the Geneva motor show earlier this year. Unlike the DB10, the DBX will reach production, and is currently earmarked to be made at a new Aston Martin factory site in Wales.
Other concept cars include Volvo's trio of design studies: the Concept Coupé, Concept XC Coupé and the Concept Estate. We now know the upcoming range-topping Volvo S90 will be based heavily on the Concept Coupé's styling, following the leak of a scale model made to celebrate the car's launch.
Salon Privé also marks the official launch of the Tramontana brand in the UK. The Spanish firm is pushing its range of track-focussed, road-legal two-seat sports cars into what it sees as an important market for the future.
The majority of sales in this country - which officials admit are likely to be small in the first year - will come from the Tramontana XTR, which is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V12 engine and can be tuned to product up to 986bhp - matching the power output of McLaren's P1 GTR.
As well as featuring mainstream vehicle manufacturers, Salon Privé also offers the chance for bespoke vehicle tuners and smaller niche manufacturers to interact with a more affluent crowd. Among those present is David Brown Automotive, whose £594,000 Speedback GT we tried earier this year, and Rimac, which is present with the 1703bhp Concept One.
Salon Privé also includes a Concours d'Elegance, in which cars in 10 classes will be judged to find an overall winner, and a classic car auction. The event runs from 3-5 September at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
