Bespoke McLaren 570GT concept showcases new features available from MSO division, including touch-sensitive tinted roof

The McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept has been revealed ahead of its official debut at Pebble Beach.

Based on the standard 570GT, the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division has created the concept to showcase bespoke design features it can offer to customers.

Changes are mainly cosmetic and include a roof than can adjust the brightness of the cabin and a new exhaust system.

The Electro-Chromic Roof takes the standard glass roof and adds an extra electro-chromic interlayer. This means that, using a touch-sensitive headlining, it can be adjusted through five defined points from almost clear to a dark tint to alter the amount of light let into the cabin.

The roof - which McLaren says is aimed at customers in warmer climates - will only be available on the 570GT, and it is not yet production-ready as it is still in development. Everything else showcased on the car can be specced by MSO customers now.

The new titanium MSO exhaust system is 30% lighter than the stainless steel unit it replaces. McLaren says it delivers a richer tone more immediately than the original stainless steel system. It also has heat shields that are finished in a golden titanium nitride tint, which change colour to blue/purple as the system heats and cools through its cycle.

Outside, the MSO concept gets white paintwork with a gloss black finish to the wheels, side skirt, front and rear door inserts and some interior details, and it also gets gloss-lacquered carbonfibre sill panels.

Inside, it gets a tan-coloured interior and 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins speaker system and gloss lacquer features.

Aside from these changes, the 570GT by MSO Concept still gets the standard model’s 562bhp 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 and 370 litres of storage. The prices for the new features have not been specified. The McLaren 570GT starts from £154,000.
