McLaren Automotive has drawn up a ten-year business plan that will see it expand a network of bespoke dealerships across the world, including America, Hong Kong and China.
Production of the new MP4-12C, the company’s Ferrari 458 challenger, is set to start late next year, with sales beginning in Spring 2011.
The company’s strategy up to 2021 has been finalized in a bid to show it is serious about developing the business. “We want to show we are not in this for the short haul,” said a company source.
Between 30 and 40 retailers in ten countries will be created across the world by 2011, starting the UK and Europe first.
The showrooms will not necessarily be new buildings but they will carry the McLaren logo and be unique to the brand.
Once the main dealerships have been established, likely in America, Hong Kong, Britain and the Middle East, the company will branch out to emerging markets such as China.
