McLaren Special Operations has produced a special-edition version of the 570GT to celebrate 20 years since the original F1 XP GT ‘Longtail’ was built.
Six units of MSO’s latest car will be produced for customers in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, each painted in the same XP green colour as the first Longtail homologation special. The six models also wear MSO exterior trim and get Saddle Tan leather seats with contrasting green stitching. Each car gets a plaque to signify its build number.
As standard, MSO is fitting its Upgrade Pack, adding a vehicle lift system, rear-view camera, Bowers & Wilkins audio system and car cover. The car sits on five-spoke forged wheels.
No changes have been made to the drivetrain, so it sticks with McLaren’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine that produces 562bhp and 443lb ft, enabling a 0-62mph time of 3.4sec and a 204mph top speed.
Based on McLaren’s most practical model, the 570GT, the car offers 370 litres of boot space, 220 litres more than the regular 570S. Its chassis settings are also unchanged from the standard 570GT, so it has suspension that’s 15% softer at the front and 10% softer the rear compared with the regular 570S.

Roland Garros edition anyone?
If only they'd just tied their F1 engine supply back in to Peugeot instead of Renault they could have used the Roland Garros moniker to suit the 90's throwback colour scheme......Probably less tenuous than the link to the F1!
I know it's there for racing
I know it's there for racing reasons but the long tail on the F1 turns my all-time favourite looking supercar into just about one of the worst proportioned and ugliest cars ever. I'll take one if you're giving it away though...
Is it just me ..?..
Or are the reasons for these special editions starting to get a bit desperate and tenuous. How long until the Star Sign limited editions? 570GT Sagittarius anyone???
Yes the LT did look awful.
Yes the LT did look awful. But I think the F1's looks were totally ruined by the Corrado door mirrors and stuck on front indicator/side light modules - it should have had the high mounted door mirrors and no heavy handed after thought stuck on indicators, it looked so good like that.
