The Pininfarina-styled Sergio has made its UK debut as part of a celebration of the company's founder

A record-breaking gathering of Pininfarina-styled cars was crowned by the first UK appearance of the firm’s latest concept car last weekend.

The Sergio, named in honour of Pininfarina’s founder who died last year, is based around a Ferrari 458 Spider. A small production run is under consideration. The show's centrepiece was unveiled by Paolo Pininfarina, the firm's chairman and the son of its founder.

185 cars were exhibited at the Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Surrey. The models on show ranged from Fiat Coupés and Peugeot 306 cabriolets to Ferrari F40s and Lancia Montecarlos.

It was also a rare chance to see the Ferrari SP12 EC, the 458-based, one-off supercar designed by Pininfarina for Eric Clapton. The guitarist was among the guests invited to the show.

Delightful Austin Cambridge

It brilliant to see the Austin Cambridge up there with all the Ferraris. Were not the old Austin/Morris/MG 1100s also conceived by Pininfarina – surely one of the most under-rated range of vehicles produced by BMC.
