Jaguar will unleash a new model offensive over the next five years, launching 40 new and revised models and powertrains by 2016.
Speaking at a New York motor show press conference, Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Ralf Speth said: "It is the most ambitious new product programme ever in the history of JLR."
"We are spending billions of pounds in new product innovation," he added. The Tata Motors Board has "just" approved these plans, said Speth.
"I can assure you we will go for it."

Land Rover introduced the new Evoque to New York, its biggest single market in the US, and Speth now believes that the Evoque will become Landd Rover's best-selling model.
"I am absolutely confident of that," he said.
Jaguar has also appointed a new boss of its North American operation, Andy Goss, a Briton formerly who ran Porsche GB.
