Tesla Roadster driven 313 miles on a single charge

A Tesla Roadster has broken the electric production car record for distance travelled on one charge.

As part of the Global Green Challenge, Australian Simon Hackett and co-driver Emilis Prelgauskas managed to cover 313 miles before the batteries died in their Tesla. The previous record for a production electric vehicle was set by another Tesla Roadster completing a 241 mile road rally. The unofficial record was completed in Australia between Alice Springs and the Northern Territory, on reaching the 500km mark, they still had an estimated 3 miles of charge remaining. On achieving this distance, owner Hackett said, “Emilis and I have decades of experience flying gliders competitively and we applied the same energy conservation techniques to our driving.”
