If you’ve always wanted a classic Mercedes 300SL but find a fifty year old car a bit too antiquated this could be the solution.
German firm Gullwing GmbH has released images and details on its perfect recreation of the original gullwing, but with a twist.
Underneath the fifties bodywork sits a 405bhp, 5.5-litre V8 that drives the rear wheels through a modern 7G-tronic automatic gearbox.
There are also ABS disc brakes from the E-Class and modern Mercedes suspension. The interior is period but features air conditioning and sat nav.
Just 30 examples of the car will be built and they will cost around £150,000, which is a fair amount of money towards an original version.
Now fans of the gullwing have two options, along with the soon-to-be-reborn Mercedes interpretation, the SLS.
