Chevrolet will become GM's environmental and technology leader, according to the company's product chief Bob Lutz.'It's our global brand and we're selling five million cars a year, so we want it to be our fuel solutions leader' he said. However, despite the likely launch of the electric Chevrolet Volt in 2010, Lutz admitted that Chevy wasn't planning on being a green leader with a Prius-style one off car. 'We don't want to sell an environmental icon, we plan to offer as many choices to as many customers as possible'.As well as the electric-powered Chevrolet Volt, which is likely to go on sale in 2010, a new Matiz has been confirmed for production in Europe, with the stylish Beat concept first seen at the New York show as a basis. It may be the hottest news from the LA show, but we revealed that the Beat would go into production back in June this year after an exclusive preview of GM's future city car.
