SX4 aims to undercut rivals

Suzuki is trying to shake up the mini-SUV market by undercutting rivals with its new SX4 model.

The base 1.6-litre GL version of the new car will cost £9995 on the road. That compares well with indirect rivals from Ford (the 1.6-litre Fusion is £11,845) and Volkswagen (a 1.4-litre Polo Dune costs £12,645). The GL doesn't want for kit, either - it comes with air conditioning, radio/CD player, electric front windows and electric door mirrors as standard.

The GLX version of the SX4 will cost £1000 more than the base model. It adds electric rear windows, heated door mirrors, keyless start technology and climate control. Both versions are now on sale.

Four-wheel-drive SX4s and a 1.9-litre diesel model will be introduced later this year.
