Hyundai's stylish HCD-9 concept takes a bow at the Detroit motor show

This is the latest instalment in one of the longest-running series of concept cars ever to grace a motor show.

Hyundai has been building HCD concepts since 1992 – HCD stands for Hyundai Design California, where they’re developed – and this, the HCD-9 Talus, is the ninth.

Although the car will be revealed at next week’s Detroit show, Hyundai is saying very little about the car, and has only released this sketch and a teaser shot that gives us a look at the interior. It describes the HCD-9 as ‘a glimpse of the future of the sports car segment.’

Unfortunately, Hyundai doesn’t have a very good track record when it comes to turning good-looking concepts into reality. The stunning HCD-8, a four-seat coupé show an at 2004’s Detroit show, has all but disappeared, so don’t expect to see anything resembling the Talus too soon.
