Lamborghini looks to design students to style its new Espada

Lamborghini has turned to students at Milan’s Scuola Politechnica di Design for the inspiration for its forthcoming third model — a front-engined, two-door, four-seat GT reminiscent of the 1968 Espada.

Last year, the Italian supercar maker began a project with 20 students studying transportation design at the Milan institution. The creators of these three proposals, Alessandro Salvagnin, Andrea Borgnoni and Fabio Mobilio, have subsequently been awarded design internships at Lamborghini.

Now that Ferrari has a four-seater with the 612 Scaglietti and Porsche has announced the four-door Panamera, Lamborghini’s move towards a new Espada is a necessary one. However, Sant’Agata will have to hurry if it’s going to bring the car from drawing board to road before the Panamera arrives in 2009.
