New Honda Jazz variant is cheaper to tax than the standard car thanks to the addition of stop-start

Honda has added the Honda Jazz 1.2 SE ‘Idle Stop’ variant to its Jazz line up, which sees the model drop one road tax band to the £30 per year tax band C (saving new owners £70).

The new car achieves a claimed 54.3mpg and 120g/km CO2, which is a 3g/km improvement over the standard 1.2-litre model without stop-start technology.

Standard features of the most efficient Jazz include automatic climate control and body coloured door handles and mirrors.

The Honda Jazz 1.2 SE adds a £1265 premium over the entry-level 1.2 S, with prices starting from £12,870.

By contrast, the five-door Vauxhall Corsa S 1.0 ecoFLEX (55.4mpg, 120g/km CO2) is £820 cheaper at £12,050.
