The Mazda 3 saloon has broken cover in leaked images, one week after the official unveiling of the hatchback version.
Images of the Mazda 3 saloon first leaked on a Russian car website. Although official details are scant, the saloon's exterior styling closely follows the 'Kodo – Soul of Motion' cues laid down by its hatchback sibling, as well as the CX-5 SUV and Mazda 6 saloon before it.
Centred on the bold 'wing' grille, this feature feeds into a rolling belt line that dips and rises before blending into the boot.
It seems likely that the booted version of the Mazda 3 will adopt the Japanese manufacturer’s latest SkyActiv engine, chassis and powertrain technology. Mazda has worked hard to ensure its new C-segment model offers class-leading interior space and clever packaging.
It's already been confirmed that the hatch will come equipped with three petrol engines – a 1.5-litre and a 2.0-litre in two states of tune – and a 2.2-litre diesel, and the saloon is likely to also feature these powerplants.
It remains to be seen whether the Mazda 3 saloon will go on sale in Britain. Although C-segment small saloons are popular in other territories, they remain a niche choice in the UK and the second-generation 3 is currently not offered as a four-door.

I like how the interior takes
I like how the interior takes on the A3. The audi looks so cheap due to lack of details and those cheesy chinese style climate controls...The mazda takes on the same theme, not so rectangular, much more serious and...who would have thought it, more classy.
As for the exterior it is a bit of 3 series headlights in the front and a bit of IS in the back but hey, it is not a rival of those cars and more importantly it does look uniform doing that (some cars look awful trying to combine elements of other cars...look at the focus or the new leon...)
Is it coming!
The latest 6 is massive and now only comes in saloon form I think Mazda have left a nice space for the 3 saloon to pick up sales. As always this has moved up in size from the current version, the saloon has always looked better. Plus the price of the yen is in our favour at the moment.
The saloon version of the
The saloon version of the Mazda 3 has always being an attractive car and this thankfully has not changed,The interior is much better than recent Mazda efforts .The saloon will be popular in Ireland as will the upcoming Toyota Corolla saloon.
