Three new camper-type accommodation options from Mini

Mini has revealed three new campervan-type attachment concepts.

The Clubvan camper is a single-bed campervan built around a modified Clubvan. There's an extendable kitchenette with a propane stove and fridge, while an in-built television provides entertainment. The Clubvan camper has a large sunroof and extra storage space, while an auxiliary heater and Mini's XL sat-nav are also included.

Secondly, the Mini Countryman All4 Camp provides tent accommodation for up to two people. There's no extra facilities like the camper, but Mini says the Camp can be fitted to both a standard Mini and a Clubman. The tent folds out of its storage box on the roof.

Finally Mini has also introduced a towed accommodation option in the form of the Cowley. Named after its Oxfordshire plant, the Cowley caravan has sleeping space for two and a full kitchenette - including a twin-burning gas stove. There's also a hand-held shower, fed from a water tank under the floor, and a 230-volt connection to power electrics. An on-board TV/DVD system provides entertainment.

The Cowley caravan is 12cm wider than a Mini Clubman and weighs less than 300kg. At the moment, Mini says the vehicles are pure concepts and not for sale.

Stupidly dangerous

Yes, I know it's just a bit of fun - but come on, a collapsible tent for two people on the roof of a Mini when its the max roof load is 75kg? How did such a stupid idea even make it past the first step, let alone out into official BMW publicity photos?
