First spy shots of the fastest XF Sportbrake ever show testing at the Nurburgring

Jaguar is working on an XFR-S version of its XF Sportbrake, but the model is not destined for series production.

Early test mules of a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 version of the XF Sportbrake have been spotted testing, including this model which was spotted at the Nurburgring. The car comes complete with a lowered chassis, large wheels and styling modifications in line with the XFR saloon.

Although technically possible, the XFR-S Sportbrake remains a project of Jaguar’s Engineered to Order (ETO) ‘skunk works’ division and is not destined to be a regular production model any time soon because demand is not strong enough.

However, ETO could still make the car in a limited small-series run should enough interest emerge.

That is why I cancelled my

That is why I cancelled my subscription to the rag.  Some great articles incased in a lot of nonsense just to get a weekly out.  The car looks production ready to me.  Considering the Sportbrake was Diesel only, they've gone to a lot of trouble to put the V8 in.  For a company with fewer resources than the big Germans, I can't imagine it's just for fun.

I would have thought there was a demand for these 'uber-estates' given that Audi has gone Avant only for the RS4 and RS6.

Or do Jaguar feel that this only applies to Audi (and Mercedes, to a lesser degree) given their 20 year history of fast estate cars? After all, BMW ditched the M5 Touring with the F10/11..who knows. It'd be nice to see some more competition in the segment as this is the sort of car where my lottery winnings would go!

XFR.S surely...!

Ah..excuse me for being so bold because i know that your'e the guys who are actually paid to know all this stuff and get it right, as opposed to us 'armchair enthusiasts'  for whom the service is provided...but surely the XF in the pics has the same front bumper, wheels rear diffuser etc as the XFR.S saloon ? So that would make it an XFR.S Sportbrake...wouldn't it ?? Or maybe i'm just being a silly amateur !!?
