Production of the Jaguar XJ at JLR's Castle Bromwich site will stop for up to four days next week.
Jaguar declined to comment on the cause of the suspension, only confirming that it is due to an issue in the supply chain.
A Jaguar spokesman told Autocar: "As a temporary measure, Jaguar Land Rover has stopped the Jaguar XJ production line due to a supply chain issue. Production of the Jaguar XJ will resume at the end of next week."
Jaguar XF, XK and Jaguar F-Type models, which are also produced at the site, are not affected.

Bit of a non-story this I
Bit of a non-story this I think. in a world of Just-In-Time manufacturing it doesnt take much to interrupt prodcuction. Just needs one of your suppliers to have an issue and cars cant be finished - so its not really worth starting to build them. At anyone time final assembly lines around the world will be suffering down time for exactly the same reasons. I very much doubt it is an issue with demand for the completed cars. If it was the lines would be stopped for far longer than four days. Besides, whilst the XJ is a comparatively rare site in German obsessed UK, it sell in spades in China and the US. Th DHL issue mentioned above caused Evoque production to be halted at Halewood earlier in the year so there maybe something in that.

I think it's a typo. It should have read demand chain. Maybe there is not enough demand!!

Jaguar have been offering brand-new (yet to be built) XJ LWB cars to chauffeurs for £40K over the last couple of weeks, some £25K lower than RRP. To then cancel production suggests that maybe there is a lack of demand and 'suspending' production is simply a way to rebalance the supply/demand levels.

Production has been stopped because Land Rover demand is taking precedent in the press shop, there is no more capacity to get XJ bodies done, so the XJ has been held to allow LR requirements to be met.
