Spy shots reveal Fiat's small SUV undergoing testing ahead of going into full production in 2015 at Fiat's plant in Melfi, Italy

Development on the upcoming Fiat 500X crossover is speeding up ahead of an expected launch in 2015, bouyed by Fiat's successful takeover of Chrysler.

The new Sedici replacement will be built at Fiat’s Melfi factory in Italy alongside its sister car, the recently revealed Jeep Renegade. The 500X will complete the Fiat 500 family line-up, sitting alongside the 500L MPV.

Hidden beneath the camouflaged bodywork are modified versions of the SCCS platform that underpins the Fiat Punto and Vauxhall Corsa. The Jeep's platform has been further tweaked to allow it to meet the crash requirements particular to the US market.

Engine options have yet to be confirmed but are likely to comprise Fiat MultiJet diesel and TwinAir petrol engines.

Both the Fiat and the Jeep will play a vital part in Fiat Chrysler Automobile's plans to deliver on its "volume aspirations".

I do wish they were not set

I do wish they were not set on naming every model a variant of 500.
It puts me off the car from the start.
500 and 500C great, but 500L, 500L MPW and now 500X is just annoying.

Fiat 500X SUV

I must admit one thing , Fiat make nice cars .But low quality , big prices in service. This SUV is Fiat 500 bigger . Be careful if you want to buy Fiat . My Fiat - 3 steering boxes damaged in 75000 km !! and many other parts damaged. Fiat told me - ,,is not our problem,, !!!!! SUV - at interior I do not think is big difference like other Fiat
