Datsun will unveil a new concept car at next month’s Delhi motor show in India. The car, seen here in an official sketch, previews an all-new compact model from the revived budget brand.
The manufacturer says the concept sketch “represents a possible direction for the future expansion of Datsun’s model line-up for up-and-coming young customers in high-growth markets, such as India”.
At present, Datsun’s range comprises the competitively priced Go five-door supermini and Go+ MPV. The sketch suggests that the forthcoming concept will be a three-door, and smaller than the Go hatchback which is 3785mm long, 1635mm wide and 1485mm high.
Our colleagues at Autocar India report that the production version that will follow this concept will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s new Compact Module Family (CMF) platform, the flexible architecture that is expected to underpin up to 14 vehicles across the models under the alliance’s umbrella.
Datsun was brought back to life by Nissan in 2013 to sell low-cost cars in Russia, India, South Africa and Indonesia.
