British luxury sports car maker reveals six new models to commemorate 60th anniversary celebration

Aston Martin is to launch six new bespoke versions of its Vanquish to celebrate 60 years of its 'Works' brand in Newport Pagnell.

The limited-edition models will be based on the current Vanquish coupé and Volante convertible. Each model will feature subtle differences tailored to reflect one of the six decades being celebrated. Aston Martin says the cars will be "instantly recognisable as Works 60th Anniversary models".

Paul Spires, commercial director of Aston Martin Works, said: "This Vanquish and its five siblings are a celebration of 60 glorious years of Aston Martin at Newport Pagnell.

"The team have created a series of cars that are forward looking and dynamic. Their anniversary accents ensure that they are certainly not a retro pastiche of our history."

Power will come from the standard Vanquish's 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 0-60mph sprint is dispatched in a claimed 3.6sec and the Aston's top speed is reputed to be 200mph.

Bespoke metal rotary control dials formed from pistons from iconic Aston Martin engines will feature in the centre console of each Vanquish.

"We're not aware of any other manufacturer having attempted anything like this before," said Spires. "I can tell you why  it's because it's incredibly difficult."

The pistons have been sourced from engines used in the DB2/4 Mk II saloon of the 1950s, then from subsequent decades the DB5, V8 coupé, V8 Vantage X-pack, V8 Vantage supercharged and the Vanquish of the mid-2000s. Different paint and trim colours will also distinguish each version.

Each variant will include unique sill plates portraying the era the car relates to, with contrasting yellow stitching and carbonfibre adorning the interior.

I fear for Aston, I hope they

I fear for Aston, I hope they are still around in ten years.

Was not surprised they

Was not surprised they focused on the middle east with the Lagonda brand considering most of the old Lagonda's were sold to people in the middle east if my memory serves me correct. I hope Aston Martin will not go this crazy or more so on more widely available limited editions.

Clear focus on Middle East

With this gaudi colour scheme and that the Lagonda is only available in Middle East, its clear where AM's priorities lie. Not that I'm criticising them for that, just that I wish they would focus a little bit on the 'old' customers too.
