Subaru displays BRZ-based concept car at the New York motor show

Subaru has revealed the STI Performance Concept at the New York show.

The concept is based on the Subaru BRZ and insiders reckon it shows that the Japanese brand wants to expand its performance sub-brand STI.

Changes have been made to the BRZ’s suspension, chassis and aerodynamics and the concept is supposed to put out 300bhp. That’s significantly more powerful than the current production car, which develops 197bhp from it’s 2.0-litre flat-four engine.

There’s no word yet on whether the STI Performance Concept will spawn a production model.
