Applications for tickets to attend this year's Great British Women in the Car Industry event have now opened, with the star-studded event to take place at the Barbican Centre in London on 20 June.

Citroën's global CEO Linda Jackson and Olympic hockey great Karen Brown will be among the talented line-up of some of the country's most influential leaders.

As keynote speakers, Jackson, a former Great British Women winner, and Brown, an Olympic field hockey bronze medallist and coach of the Rio 2016 gold medallists, will be lending their insights as female leaders inside and outside the motor industry.

The event, organised by Autocar in association with the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), is backed by BMW, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, Nissan and Toyota.

It will also feature a discussion panel filled with a wealth of high-profile leaders and moderated by the chair of the Great British Women judging panel, Rachael Prasher. Prasher is the managing director of Haymarket Automotive, which publishes Autocar.

Panellists include Paula Cooper, the first director of Toyota GB’s ConsumerOne function, who will be bringing her 25 years of experience in the motor industry, and JLR’s head of HR for product engineering, Michelle Hepden-Dyer - an industry favourite after transforming the product engineering department’s 11,000-strong workforce during her time at the British manufacturer.

BMW Group’s network facilities manager, Fen Butler, will offer unparalleled retail expertise after delivering the global pilot for Mini’s new corporate identity, alongside Val Risk, Fujitsu’s client executive, who is a renowned market strategy expert and the 2018 Times Business Community Gender Champion.

Alex Smith will lend his considerable expertise as the managing director of one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the UK, Nissan, and Jane Skerry, HR director at Ford of Britain, will round off the six-strong discussion panel.

Top 10 bestselling cars in Britain

Autocar editor Mark Tisshaw said: “This year promises to be the most exciting and engaging Great British Women event yet. Ahead of the event, we will announce the top 100 British women in the car industry, as well as nominating the most inspirational across 12 key areas of the business and an overall winner.

“That, in turn, will frame the celebratory format of the afternoon, with what promises to be first-rate insight from across the industry and, from Karen, a world-class view from a completely different perspective.”

The keynote speakers and discussion panel will be followed by an awards ceremony, when the overall winner and category winners from the Great British Women in the Car Industry top 100 shortlist will be recognised, as well as the brightest female apprentices in the industry.
