When it comes to finding a new perspective on the world, Skoda’s compact hatchback is the perfect drive for drone photographer Beth Howells

Meet Beth. During the week, she works as a design manager for a London-based construction company, but – at the weekend – she takes every opportunity to break free from the urban sprawl to enjoy her passion for drone photography.

It’s all about finding a new environment and a fresh perspective on the world. That’s where the new Skoda Fabia comes in. With its compact dimensions its perfect for Beth to use for everyday commuting and exploring the city. But, with a spacious and refined interior that’s packed with clever technology, it also helps Beth escape to the country to embrace her aerial ambition.

And, if you need even more room to engage your passions, you can also choose the estate version – which was declared the Best Estate Buy for less than £20,000 in the 2018 What Car Awards.

Big doses of small car style

Wherever you’re based, you can’t fail to miss the Fabia’s sleek new third-generation facelift design. Sharp body lines, 3D fins and a honeycomb bumper lend it a much more dynamic and premium feel – all amplified by a range of eye-catching paints and distinctive alloy wheels.

That premium feel continues inside Skoda’s compact hatch, with a 6.5” touchscreen display in the heart of the dashboard for the Swing radio – which offers DAB digital radio as well as USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

On higher trims, you get a surround sound package with six speakers, as well as Smartlink+ connectivity, which lets you connect compatible smartphones through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and control a whole range of apps for navigation, music, calls and texts. The SE L trim comes with an advanced Amundsen satellite-navigation system to gain even greater control over your route.

As well as being stylish and spacious, the interior of the Skoda Fabia is incredibly functional. That means lots of clever little hidden features – such as an under-seat umbrella, an ice scraper in the fuel cap, and an adjustable shelf in the generous boot – that make everyday motoring even easier and more productive.

Fun and safe to drive

The Fabia comes with a range of Skoda’s 1.0-litre MPI and TSI engines that let you pick the right choice for your needs – whether it's something with lower insurance and lower emissions for a city-friendly run-around, or an engine that delivers more power or even greater fuel economy for longer journeys.

Skoda’s compact hatchback also includes an impressive range of features which help make driving easier and safer – starting with Front Assist, which warns you of potential collisions and then automatically applies the brakes in order to minimise any potential impact, and comes fitted as standard.

Also available are adaptive cruise control, automatic headlights, rain sensors and blind spot detection with rear traffic alert, which lets you know about hard-to-see cars whether you’re cruising in heavy traffic on the motorway or reversing out of a parking space.

In town, rear parking sensors are standard from the SE trim up to help you navigate cramped urban car parks. You can also add an optional rear view camera for improved visibility when parking.
