Motorsport-inspired versions of the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback to go on sale following Geneva debut

Skoda has expanded its Monte Carlo range of special editions to include the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback.

Seen for the first time at the Geneva motor show, the new models feature a sporty design with black aluminium wheels, tinted rear windows and new black exterior trim.

Inside, the new models get red stitching on the steering wheel, black interior trim and sports seats.

The additions bring Skoda's Monte Carlo selection of vehicles to five, with the current Fabia and Fabia estate already part of the range.

The Monte Carlo special editions celebrate Skoda's motorsport achievements, including its success at the Monte Carlo Rally. The Czech manufacturer won the European Rally Championship, Asia-Pacific Rally and South American Rally Championship in 2013.

As well as its Monte Carlo models, Skoda has also shown its five-door VisionC Concept at the Geneva show, alongside the new Octavia Scout and a new CNG-powered variant of the Skoda Octavia.

Although not coming to the UK, the Octavia G-TEC offers a range of 826 miles and is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 108bhp.

Car review

Skoda's city car gets more standard equipment and remains decent to drive, but the Citigo still lacks the sophistication of the VW Up or the dynamism of the Hyundai i10

Where's the Rapid?

I'm curious as to why they haven't released any pics of the Rapid Spaceback Monte Carlo! I'd expect it to look pretty good!

Paper Tigers....

... its a shame Skoda don't put more engine into these. Fancy a tarted up 1.2TSi Rapid or Yeti? Why not a 1.8TSi with DSG option? Or TDi180 versions?
