A production version of the Dacia Duster concept seen at the recent Geneva motor show will be launched in 2010, and is likely to be unveiled by the Romanian car firm at next year’s Geneva show.
The new SUV will have similar dimensions to the concept and is likely to feature its unusual reconfigurable seats, which allow the passenger seat to fold under the driver’s seat. Two and four-wheel drive versions will be available, with manual and automatic transmissions.
The car will be launched with the concept’s 1.5dCi engine, producing 103bhp, and a 1.6-litre petrol with 105bhp. Dacia is also considering adding a 2.0-litre petrol turbo with 170bhp after the car’s launch.
The Romanian government has said it will give Dacia 10 per cent of the car’s €100m development cost.
