VW has introduced a fixed price service plan.
Owners of any new VW passenger car who sign up to the scheme before 31 December 2010 will pay a one-off fee of £250. This covers the car’s servicing needs for the next three years, or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If the car is sold within the specified time or distance allowances, the service plan can be transferred to the new owner.
The plan which can be purchased up to 90 days after the first registration date of any VW passenger car, is available for all retail customers, whether paying by finance or not and comprises a maximum of an oil service at 12 months/10,000 miles, interval service at 24 months/20,000 miles and an inspection service, which includes oil and brake fluid change at 36 months/30,000 miles.

Seat are doing the same thing, pay up front for your servicing, sounds good but what is really happening is they've got your money for three years in one lump and even if you sell after one year you loose out because you've payed for three and the next owner gets the benefit!, ok,you've payed for servicing so you don't have to worry come the time, but check out what it covers, you'll be surprised, and you could get ot serviced cheaper wothout breaking your warranty, food for thought.

This isn't news, is it? VW have been offering a prepaid service plan on new vehicles since the latter part of last year - originally it was only until 31st December 2009, but then they extended it....

The trouble is we still have to pay for it even if its included in the price. The warrenty is one thing, but i wouldnt want the servicing included in the purchace price. I dont use main dealers anyway. You get a much better deal from independents anyway
