Toyota has revealed its 2012 facelifted Toyota Aygo city car, which will be at the Brussels show

Toyota has revealed its 2012 facelifted Toyota Aygo city car, which will be on show at the Brussels motor show next week. Akin to the revised Citroën C1 and Peugeot 107 revealed today, the Aygo’s three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine has been reworked to emit 99g/km of CO2, making it road tax free and London Congestion Charge exempt. Similarly, fuel economy is raised to 65.7mpg.

Toyota has refreshed the front-end of the 2012 Aygo with a new bonnet design, a wider and more aerodynamic front bumper with integrated foglights and a large trapezoidal air intake. Optional LED daytime running lights sit in the lower edge of the grille.

Because of the styling revisions, the 2012 Aygo has grown in length by 15mm to 3430mm, compared with its predecessor.

Included as standard across the model range are tinted rear windows, new 14-inch hubcaps and the choice of seven exterior colours, including metallic orange.

Inside, the Toyota Aygo gets a more colour coordinated dash design thanks to a new dark grey finish for the upper and lower dashboard sections. The Aygo’s steering wheel is leather trimmed and the instrument surrounds are finished in grey, orange or black.

NVH levels have also improved thanks to the addition of extra insulation under the bonnet and revised damping rates for the suspension.

The facelifted Toyota Aygo goes on sale in the UK in March, however prices have not yet been announced.

Re: Updated Toyota Aygo shown

In Ireland at least the Aygo has a decent trade in value. Also the new price in Ireland versus the VW Up! The price here is from 10,500 yet the Up! is 2,000 euro extra. I would have been interested in an UP for the Mother, but she needs a Automatic. i can just imagine how much extra VW will charge for an Autobox. Toyota only charge about 500 extra. A Polo automatic adds about 3,500 to the price. Congrats on Toyota for continuing to keep prices down if the car is getting rather dated. Id rather have a Toyota than a Peugeot or Citroen or Kia Picanto.

Ooops! Toyota drop the styling ball yet again.

For me the Citroen narrowly shades the Peugeot for looks with this round of revisions.

What I don't understand is given the prowess of toyota's hybrid capabilities, why hasn't the Aygo not been turned into an EV?
