This is a never-seen-before design concept for the original Smart forfour.
Developed around a Fiat Punto in 1999, the concept was created for Daimler-Chrysler by an Italian studio at a time when the German car giant was considering a bid for Fiat.

The Smart Forfour was eventually based on the Mitsubishi Colt and eventually made production in 2003, but sales were so poor that it was canned in 2006.
A new version of the Smart Forfour is now being jointly developed by Daimler, Renault and Nissan. It is expected to be launched in 2014.
The concept pictures were unearthed by Italian website Quattroruote.

Re: Secret Smart concept discovered
As for wheels, does anyone else think these are too small? http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1035455_spy-shots-2012-range-rover-lrx Concept, I know, so I hope they are going to be wider-tyred when it is released. These look like six-inchers!
Re: Secret Smart concept discovered
This looks maybe better than the real thing , but I do think that all of us , and Mercedes in particular , would be better-off if Smart had never been thought of.
Re: Secret Smart concept discovered
Interesting how this was based on the Punto, as thats the same as BMW used for the original MINI concept back in 1994.
