Honda bosses have revealed they will not extend the Type-R performance brand from Civic to other bread-and-butter models in Europe.
Despite a Type-R version of the latest Accord being sold on the Japanese market, Global R&D boss Tomoyuki Sugiyama denied Honda was developing more performance versions. ‘Sales are not high enough,’ he said. ‘There will be no Jazz or Accord Type-R.’
That means Europeans will only be able to buy the £16k Civic Type-R. A revised model goes on sale in January, with tweaked lights, bumpers and seat fabric, plus a 0-60mph sprint cut by 0.2sec.
