Honda-formed British racing team Synchro Motorsport has built an estate-bodied version of the latest Civic Type R.
Using a standard 2013 Civic Tourer, the team transplanted the running gear of an FK2 Civic Type R to create a 306bhp estate.
The six-speed gearbox, wheels, brakes and suspension of the FK2 Civic Type R have also been carried over, and Synchro Motorsport has also fitted a the Type R's front bodykit and adapted rear bodywork of the Tourer.
At the back, a quad-exhaust set-up fits into a rear diffuser that appears to have been adapted from the hatch. And inside, there are Type R seats and red badging.
Despite being built by a small team, the finished product looks remarkably production ready. Fans of fast estates shouldn't get their hopes up, though, the latest from Honda is that there are no plans to bring such a car to production.

Err, No.
Performance versions of other estates don't sell well so why should this Honda? Fast sporting estates are yesterday, the world has moved on. Cars like the X6 may well be ugly but these have replaced sporting estates. As long as it looks sporty, few folk care.

There's still a market for quick estates, and perhaps more so than there ever has been. There'll always be enough people who want to move things in a hurry.
