2017 Renault Koleos SUV revealed, interior teased

An image revealing the new Renault Koleos SUV has been released by Renault, ahead of the model's expected debut at next week's Beijing motor show.

Although no details aside from confirmation of the Koleos name's revival accompany the image, we already know that under the Renault-Nissan alliance the Koleos will be made on Nissan X-Trail underpinnings. 

The car's expected reveal at the Beijing motor show suggests that it will go on sale firstly in China before it reaches European markets next year. 

A series of teaser videos released earlier this week and spy shots of the Koleos testing earlier this year previewed the Koleos's exterior styling, which adopts the same front-end treatment as the Mégane and Talisman models, with intricate light design incorporated into a full-width bar which also houses the front grille and Renault badge.

Another teaser video hinted at the interior of the car, albeit a high-spec Koleos, with brown leather upholstery.

Like its Mégane and Talisman stablemates, the LED daytime running lights of the Koleos extend down below the main light clusters in a C-shape. 

The name Maxthon was circulated alongside early sightings of the Koleos, but Renault's continued use of the moniker elsewhere made the adoption of a new name unlikely. 

The Koleos isn't expected to reach UK shores until next year, and Renault remains tight-lipped on details ahead of the car's official debut. We expect the Koleos to closely match the price of its Nissan X-Trail cousin, just as the Renault Kadjar does with the Nissan Qashqai. This means a starting price of around £23,000 is likely. 

The current Koleos is built in Renault's plant in Busan, South Korea, and is currently on sale in markets outside of the UK. The Koleos hasn't been sold in the UK since 2011, when the model was pulled from the market in light of poor sales.
