Special edition gets more kit and black-and-red theme; 200 examples are allocated to Europe, with all three engine options available

Maserati has revealed the Maserati Ghibli Ribelle, a limited-run edition of its entry-level saloon planned for only 200 units sold across Europe.

A red-and-black theme is used for the car, with exclusive black paintwork – named Nero Ribelle, after the car - and red accents on the wheels and brake callipers marking it out from the standard Ghibli.

The Ribelle's 19in alloy wheels are also model-unique.

On the inside, the theme continues, and the car’s significance is displayed on a commemorative plaque on the centre console. Two-tone upholstery is used – again exclusive to the Ribelle.

In addition, the Ribelle - Italian for rebel - gets more equipment the standard Ghibli, with laminated windows for extra soundproofing, full LED adaptive headlights, a Harman Kardon sound system and a sunroof.

It’s available with all three of the Ghibli's engine options: a 271bhp diesel V6 and a twin-turbo petrol V6 with 345bhp or 424bhp. Only the first two are available in the UK, however.

The UK allocation is limited to around 50 examples in both diesel and 345bhp petrol forms. The Ribelle's price hasn't yet been announced, although it’s likely to carry a premium over the £64,825 Gransport and Granlusso models.
