Land Rover's been teasing with a glimpse of a smaller, greener SUV that it'll show next year

From Chas Hallett in Frankfurt

Not often that a big show story is what's going to be big at another show. But that's what Land Rover seems to have pulled off.

Why? Because it decided to give us a teaser pic of a baby Landie concept that it's going to be showing at Detroit in January.

From what we can tell (it's a fuzzy pic) it's a three-door, smaller than a Freelander and part of the long-term plan to make Land Rover leaner and greener.

Will they really make it? From what we've seen so far they'd be mad not to. It should be trendy enough to become a sort of taller Mini. Image-wise, anyway. And who said all Land Rovers had to be two-tonne Sahara-crossers?
